After Civil Service Preliminary exam

AFTER THE PRELIMS As soon as the Prelims are over, get on to the preparation for the Main (written) exam. The Main exam will consists of nine (9) papers of conventional essay type: Paper I (300 marks) - one of the Indian languages from the Languages included in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution; 
    Paper II (300 marks) on English; Paper III of 200 marks is an Essay Paper; Papers IV and V (300 marks each) are on General Studies; Papers VI and VII (optional subject 1), Papers VIII and IX (optional subject 2), each of 300 marks, are to be selected from the list of optional subjects given in the notification. Pay attention to the combinations of optional subject choices which are not allowed (these are mentioned in the notification). 
    The scope of the syllabus for the optional subject papers is broadly of a level higher than the bachelor’s degree level. In the case of Engineering and Law, the level corresponds to the bachelor’s degree. The papers on Indian Languages and English will be of Matriculation or equivalent standard. Syllabi are given in the notification. 
    The number of candidates invited for the interview will be about twice the number of vacancies to be filled. The interview will carry 300 marks (with no minimum qualifying marks).
